How to set up habits in Artful Agenda.

It’s fun and simple to set up your habits. I recommend starting with just a few so it doesn’t become overwhelming. See the video linked above for the habits I’ve created.

How to Set Up Habits Step-By-Step:

  • In Artful Agenda, in either the Monthly, Weekly, or Daily views, click the HABITS tab on the left side.

  • Click or tap on the first blank line to set up a habit and the Create a Habit menu box will appear.

  • Write the name of the new habit. Try to be brief because when the Habits appear on the daily page you'll see the icon, but only a few text characters will be displayed.

  • Choose an icon to represent that habit. Just tap on the icon you like.

  • Next choose a color. A color palette will appear and just click on your favorite. I generally choose colors that match my Artful Agenda planner cover.

  • If you have saved any custom colors, they will also appear under MY COLORS.

  • Once you've selected a color, click SAVE.

How to check off habits in Artful Agenda Plus when you Complete them.

Now here's the fun part - actually tracking your habits each day! There are two ways to do this.

You can check off habits in either the daily view or in the Habits tab. Since I mainly work in the daily page, I find it’s the easiest way to track habits.

Check off habits in the Daily view:

  • If you're not already on the daily page, Tap on the DAY tab on the right side of the Artful Agenda planner.

  • If you have one or more habits set up, you'll see the icon and the description in the HABITS block on the right side of the page. You will always see the icon for each habit and some or all of the text description, depending on your screen size, the font you choose, etc.

  • The habits will appear in light gray.

  • When you complete a habit, either click or tap on the icon and it will now appear in the color you chose for that habit.

How to check off habits in the habits tab:

  • Click on the Habits Tab

  • Scroll to the habit you want to check off

  • Click or tap the circle under the corresponding date

To me, this is a little more unwieldly than simply checking off habits on the daily screen. But if you default to using the weekly or monthly calendar views, this is a good option for you.

Or this works well if you didn't log habits for a few days and want to get caught up.

Artful Agenda Plus will show your habit streaks.

When you do a habit for multiple days in a row, you'll notice that a colorful circle next to that habit will display your current streak - that is, how many days in a row you did that particular thing.

HOW TO EDIT A HABIT'S NAME, CHANGE THE ICON, OR COLOR.

It's easy to edit a habit's name, the icon chosen, and the color.

  • In the HABITS tab, click or tap on the 3 dots to the right of the habit's name to open the Edit Habit window.

  • You can easily edit the name (demo)

  • Tap to choose a different icon (demo)

  • Or change the color, by tapping the current color and selecting a new one.

  • Tap or click SAVE to lock in your changes.

As I mentioned, I choose my habit's colors to match my current Artful Agenda cover, so it's nice that with a few clicks I can change the display color.

One thing to be aware of is this...

Habits will roll over from month to month automatically.

To me, this is a good feature because generally I like to focus on habits for the long term, not just for a month.

But, you can either stop tracking or delete one or more habits, add new ones, or just default to the same habit tracker.

How to stop tracking a habit in Artful Plus.

Say you've chosen to track a habit of meditating for 10 minutes every day and it's really become an ingrained part of your life. You always meditate after waking up, while sitting in bed. When a habit becomes automatic it might be time to stop tracking it and move on to building other healthy habits.

When you STOP TRACKING a habit, it will no longer appear on your daily page in the future, but all of the times you logged that habit in the past will still be visible.

  • In the HABITS tab, open the Edit Habit box

  • Click on STOP TRACKING

  • Click SAVE

  • Confirm by clicking STOP

HOW TO DELETE A HABIT In Artful Plus.

Be cautious with delete - because it will wipe out all record of that habit, meaning all the times you’ve tracked it in the  past.  I like to see habits I have tracked over time so I would probably opt for STOP TRACKING instead.

If you do want to delete a habit, simply tap on the 3 dots next to the habit's name in the HABITS tab. In the HABITS tab, open the Edit Habit box

  • Click on DELETE

  • You'll see a pop-up window asking if you're sure you want to delete that habit. Confirm by clicking the DELETE button.

Using a habit tracker can be a powerful tool for developing and maintaining positive habits. And it’s super fun and easy to do right in Artful Agenda Plus!

Happy Planning!
