How to Add Your Team's NBA Basketball Schedule to Google Calendar

Do you want to add your favorite NBA Basketball team's schedule to your Google calendar in just a few clicks? Whether you cheer for the Cleveland Cavaliers (like me!), the Denver Nuggets, the Miami Heat, or the Golden State Warriors, you can add all of their games to Google Calendar and this blog post will teach you how!

If you prefer to watch a video tutorial, here it is! Otherwise, please scroll for the step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: Go to NBA.com.

All you need is Google Calendar. Unlike when adding an NFL or Major League baseball team's schedule, you need to go outside of Google Calendar to add an NBA team's schedule.

Step 1 is to visit the website NBA.com.

Step 2: Subscribe to your NBA team's calendar.

  • On the top menu, click on SCHEDULE, then 2023-24 SEASON SCHEDULE. If you're watching this video in the future, just click for the current year's schedule.

  • On the far right click the blue text link: ADD GAMES TO CALENDAR.

  • Click the red ADD TO CALENDAR button.

  • Scroll through the list of NBA teams and choose your favorite team.

  • After selecting your team, click on the red NEXT button at the bottom of the screen.

  • You do need to opt in and enter your email address.  If you don't want emails from the NBA, be sure to leave the first box checked. But you'll have to check the "I agree to Terms of Use and Privacy Policy" box in order to download your team's schedule

  • Click the red NEXT button at the bottom of the screen

  • Click ALLOW to give Rokt Calendar permission to import the NBA Schedule to Google Calendar

You will then see a SUCCESS message! Your NBA basketball team's schedule is now a part of Google Calendar. It's time to open Google Calendar to be sure the calendar is displayed and to customize it.

Step 3: Open Google Calendar to see the schedule.

In a separate browser window open Google Calendar. You'll now see your favorite NBA team's schedule. I love how it has a cute little basketball icon, it displays the game time in your local time zone, and shows where the game will be played.

Double-click on any game to download the NBA app, see links to watch the game on ROKT, see what TV stations show the game, and even grab that game's hashtag (like #WarriorsvCavs) in case you want to tweet about it on X.

You'll also find a link to purchase tickets and a link to manage your calendar or to unsubscribe.

Optional Step 4: Change the calendar colors to match your NBA team's colors.

When Google Calendar imports your NBA team's schedule it will choose a default color. Of course you can stick with that, but I like to change the calendar's color to match my team's color. Here's how...

  • In Google Calendar, open the sidebar if it's not already visible, by clicking the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left of your screen.

  • Scrolling down the sidebar, you'll see your NBA team's calendar.

  • Click on the team's calendar and then select the OPTIONS menu by clicking on the 3 dots to the right of your team's name.

  • Choose one of your team's colors from the list that appears.

If you're a super fan and want one of the EXACT team colors, you can choose a custom color.

  • In a separate browser tab, visit the website nbacolors.com

  • Scroll to find your team and click on it.

  • Choose one of your team's colors and double-click on its hex code to select it.

  • Then use CONTROL + C on a PC or COMMAND + C on a Mac to copy that hex code.

  • Back in your Google Calendar window, tap the 3 dots to the right of your NBA team calendar to select the OPTIONS menu.

  • Click the PLUS button at the bottom of the screen to add a custom color.

  • Double-click to select the current hex code, then hit delete or backspace to remove it.

  • Paste in the hex code you copied (CONTROL + V for a PC or COMMAND + V on a Mac). Be sure that the code starts with the # sign.

  • Click the SAVE button.

Now your team's NBA games will displayed on Google Calendar in one of their custom colors!

Conclusion

That's it! It's simple to add your NBA team's calendar in just a few clicks, AND you can customize how it appears on your devices to display in your team's colors.

Wishing your team best of luck this NBA basketball season!
