Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea Protein Ice Cream Recipe
Protein ice cream is a delicious treat for dieters, athletes and anyone wanting a sweet treat without all the guilt of Ben & Jerry's. Tonight I made a new flavor and it is my new favorite. I am in love.
Begin with Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea.
Bolthouse Farms drinks are totally delish, and Vanilla Chai Tea is one of my favorites. It is a creamy smoothie made with green tea, chai spices and a hint of vanilla. Totally yummy, with 9 grams of protein. It's also dairy-free, gluten-free and high in calcium and Vitamin C.
The one teeny tiny drawback of the this particular drink is the calories. It's 180 for 8 ounces which is a lot for just a drink when I'm in serious diet mode. And, unfortunately, I'm counting every calorie at the moment since I entered the Beachbody Defined by PiYo Casting Call Contest.
Soooo, I decided to combine the Vanilla Chai Tea with vanilla protein powder to make a delicious protein ice cream. The recipe, using Syntha 6 vanilla ice cream flavor protein powder, has about 260 calories and 26 grams of protein. (You may happily end up with fewer calories if you choose a different protein powder.)
The extra boost of protein from the protein powder gives your ice cream staying power, so you can enjoy your treat and feel full longer. It's a perfect post-workout snack!
Being the minimalist I often am, I just stirred together the Chai Tea and protein powder and popped it in the freezer for a few hours. If you're a traditionalist you are welcome to throw the mixture into an ice cream maker.
Vanilla Chai Tea is my new favorite protein ice cream flavor.
- 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder (I used Syntha 6)
- 1/3 cup Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai Tea
- Mix together protein powder and Vanilla Chai Tea.
- Pour mixture into ice cream maker and process, or just pop your bowl in the freezer for about two hours until frozen. Enjoy!
What's your favorite flavor of protein ice cream? I'd love to read your comments!
